This makes SmartLF easily the best price performance range of large format scanners available. 400 dpi deep focus Contact Image Sensors for fine image detail, sharpness & accuracy Close-spaced, 400 dpi 'deep focus' contact image sensors (CIS) combine with years of Colortrac scanner design experience to achieve sharp, finely resolved monochrome & colour images up to 2400 dpi maximum resolution. The scanner's side justified, straight through media path, transports originals through the scanner at 0.1% +/- 1 pixel accuracy. Flexible document format up to 44" wide by unlimited length & 40" image width The 40" image width is ideal for most documents in the AEC, CAD, GIS, archive and reproduction markets. Instant scanning from power-on, no stitch, no calibration, no warm-up and no wait! The CIS integral LED light source is ready to go within 6 seconds from power-on with no warm-up or stabilisation time equired. In comparison, fluorescent light tubes used by CCD scanners can take up to 2 hours to stabilise and the scanner may need re-alignment and re-calibration before use. Innovative, curved document feed tray with improved auto size detection & media handling Documents are fed into the scanner from the front, side justified over a gently curved feed tray and detected by reliable, solid state optical sensors, for optimum support and positioning of the original. Auto size detection is rapid using improved techniques that work in-line as the image is scanned. Documents are transported by precision power rollers and high grip contour rollers with the minimum force necessary to preserve delicate originals. An adjustable pressure plate maintains the best possible contact between the media and the scan glass to ensure images are pin-sharp, colourful and shadow free. The standard hold down setting is precompressed for normal originals with gradually lower pressure settings available for badly dog-eared or flimsy documents such as newsprint. The scan glass is chemically treated for high impact & scratch resistance - more than 5 times that of normal optical glass. Simply select file, copy or email, the type of original to be scanned and a few other intuitive settings, place the original in the scanner and off you go! As the document is scanned the image is displayed on screen to provide reassurance that what you are getting, is what you want. The operator can switch between scan modes using its control panel without using the PC keyboard or mouse. Once selected, optical sensors in the scanner detect new documents and keep the SmartLF scanning, copying or e-mailing until the job is done.
